The Campaign NoteBook is used to track plot lines and keep notes for future plans. You can organize the ongoing plot threads of your campaign and add quick notes to be developed further at a later date. As a player, you can track your character's accomplishments as the adventure progresses, building an indexed log of the campaign. When writing a module to be exported and distributed, the Campaign NoteBook is the organizing core from which all other DA NoteBooks are referenced. This makes it easy for users to run an imported DA adventure just like a conventionally published module.
The Character NoteBook is used to keep track of NPCs. The NPCs can be associated with either the Campaign or the Setting - or even a specific entry within the Setting NoteBook - and are available whenever the appropriate one is selected. It is a simple matter to add a character and a few quick notes. A chance meeting with a random NPC can provide a recurring character, without having to shuffle through pages of notes looking for something that you jotted down a week, a month, or even a year ago. As a player, you can add a few notes about every interesting NPC that you meet, and quickly reference them down the line if they show up again.
The Setting NoteBook is used to record setting information. Like a cyclopedia for a conventionally published setting, the Setting NoteBook contains information about the locations, cultures, peoples, history, and background of a campaign setting. You can use it to add depth to your world by organizing ideas and setting information, and being able to quickly locate any desired entry. As a player, you can keep track of the places that you've been, making it easy to recall details when you return.
The DA Campaign Manager can track multiple Campaigns and Settings. Simply select the Campaign that you want to reference, and DA will load all information related to it. DA records which Setting is associated with the selected Campaign, and loads all information for that Setting as well. DA will then load all Characters associated with either the Campaign or Setting.
DA comes with an example Campaign and Setting, to showcase some features and help you familiarize yourself with the core uses of the program. Select the Campaign from the Current Campaign drop-down list. Registered users can use the Import/Export feature to share entries from any NoteBook, making it possible to share an entire Campaign or Setting, just like the conventionally published version. As the community of DA users grows, you can have limitless campaigns a mere mouseclick away.
