Link/Load Image: Every DA entry can have an Image file associated with it. This can be any standard image filetype (.bmp, .gif, .jpg, etc.) located anywhere on your computer. When loaded, the image will be displayed in the Main Media Window for most DA entries, and in the Site Image Window for Adventure Site NoteBook entries. This can be used to display a picture of a Character or Creature, a city, a map, a diagram, or anything else that you want to associate with a DA entry. You can even set DA to automatically load the new image when a new entry is selected, for quick recognition of Characters for example. Once loaded, you can zoom in, out, and pan around to see just the details that you want. You can even view the image full screen, in case you want to show the other players without revealing any notes.
Link/Load File: Every DA entry can also have a File associated with it. This can be any file type located anywhere on your computer. When loaded, DA will launch the file in it's default program based on your computer's filetype associations. You can even launch an .EXE with the click of a button rather than browsing through the Start menu. For example, you could link a character sheet form - or a character file from your favorite GameSystem-specific Character Generator - to launch when you need more detail about an entry in the Character NoteBook. Or launch a .PDF that you downloaded for an adventure rather than using the Adventure Manager.
Quick Launch Menu: In addition to associating specific files or programs with individual entries, DA includes a "Quick Launch" feature that allows you to create a list of often-used files and programs to be launched quickly from within the DA interface. For example, if you have an .HTML or .PDF rulebook for your favorite system, you can use the Quick Launch feature to access it as needed, rather than following a shortcut, browsing, or using the Start Menu. You can also launch your favorite Character Generator, graphics, or mapping program; or any other program or file. By creating a simple Quick Launch link, any program can become an extension of the DA toolset, for unlimited flexibility.
Rich Text/Word Processing: Most DA text feilds are Rich Text, meaning that they can be formatted with different fonts, styles, and colors. You can even export to an RTF file or import from one, allowing you to edit your work in your favorite word processor and still access it through DA.
Import/Export: With the Import/Export feature, registered users can share their work with other users. You can share your DA entries with your group, or make them publicly available over the internet. A properly organized and Exported file can be Imported and used just like conventionally published material - whether it's a Setting, Campaign, Adventure Site, Reference Library material, Creatures, or just a few Character descriptions. Furthermore, as our user base grows, we plan on expanding our website to offer a convienient, centralized means of distributing your material. Not only will you be able to download and import DA content for your own use, but you'll even be able to publish your own content for others to use! Please refer to our license agreement and Legal section for details.
Print: More than just printing the current entry, the DA print feature allows you to select from any available entries, organize them in any order, and even preview for editing and formating before the final print. Of course, if the DA editing features aren't enough, you can save the preview to an .RTF file for editing, formating, and printing from your favorite word processor or for distribution and publishing. There is a sample adventure available in the Material Downloads section showcasing the print output.
Plug-ins: While there are none available for the initial launch, we have designed DA with extensibility in mind. We have built in the capability to add tools, such as GameSystem-specific versions of the Encounter Manager. We have even been working on a mapping utility that works with the Encounter Manager. Let us know what you think will be the most useful, and we'll try to accomodate our user's preferences.
